Employees biggest threat to GDPR compliance

A new survey has revealed that employees are considered a substantial risk when it comes to complying with the General Data Protection Regulation. According to a Bluesource poll, 60% of senior IT executives view their staff as the biggest threat to GDPR compliance, and 40% considered their IT systems their main risk.

It stands to reason that every organisation needs to make certain staff are aware of the new legislation and are adequately equipped to comply with it

One of the most common problems is staff opening infected email attachments. Organisations need to remember that not every employee is as computer literate as the next and fall for these scams through naivety rather than any lack of care... you need to make sure they are aware of these scams and the potential consequences of falling for them.

The Information Commissioner’s Office has reiterated that “the GDPR will apply in the UK from 25 May 2018”. If you are unsure of your next steps towards GDPR compliance, Insight MSIG can provide the assistance you require. feel free to contact me for more details.
